NATIONAL HERITAGE DEPARTMENT SYSTEM

The department has a role as enshrined in the National Heritage Act 2005 (Act 645). So based on the Act, the Department carry out research, archeology, conservation of buildings and monuments, gazetting and enforcement, intangible heritage and natural heritage.

The main function of the National Heritage Department is:
  • To enforce the provisions of the National Heritage Act 2005
  • To protect and conserve the country's heritage
  • National heritage register in the National Heritage List
  • Conducting research and development related to heritage
  • Documenting the results of the study and reference materials related to heritage and publish it
  • Designing, implementing and coordinating activities related to heritage
  • To coordinate the nomination and recognition of national heritage to the world
  • Monitor World Heritage Site in Malaysia
